Abstract

In this article, career guidance is seen as a system of areas of training secondary schools students to professional activity in order to develop the child’s conscious choice of professional education and the desire to be in great professional demand in society. The author examines key elements of career guidance as for students from high school.The basic stages of professional training are highlighted in the paper. Scientific educational literature concerning career guidance in high school is analyzed. The principles of the vocational giudance system’s functioning in conditions of educational work with students of secondary schools in Ukraine are revealed. Challenges and problems of career guidance faced by society and dictated by contemporary realities are considered in terms of preparing students of secondary schools in Ukraine to professional educational work. Attention is drawn to the main priorities of professional self-determination during career guidance with senior students. The author offers ways of solving the problems, and makes an emphasis on the need of using a comprehensive approach to career guidance in secondary schools of Ukraine.
