The paternity of Romania's National Anthem is disputed by people from Vâlcea and from Braşov. Vasile Roman claims the priority of Vâlcea (sustaining that Anton Pann is the composer of the music and that the song was first sung in Râmnicu-Vâlcea), while Vasile Oltean claims the priority of Braşov (affirming that Gheorghe Ucenescu composed the song, which was first sung in Braşov). Reading the works of the two authors and using other information too, these are the conclusions that can be drawn: 1) Andrei Mureşianu composed both the music and the lyrics of the anthem 2) Celebrating the National Anthem's Day on the 29th of July because on that day it was supposedly first sung in Râmnicu Vâlcea was decided out of an exaggerated local patriotism or due to the superficial data interpretation and it does not withstand careful historical verification 3) Râmnicu Vâlcea was the first city in Wallachia where the song was sung, after it was sung in Braşov.
