Dukungan Tokoh Laki?Laki Terhadap Feminisme Dalam Fiksi Jawa Modern Bertema Kekerasan

The purpose of this research is to describe male character’s attitude toward violence which happen to women. In achieving that purpose, this research uses New Historicism theory, a theory which has a belief that there is a reciprocal relationship between text and literature context, reveals the base of the matter, and gives attention to marginal groups, one of them is woman. This research is a qualitative one. The sources of data are modern Javanese literary works in the form of novels and serials published in 2001?2010. There are two kinds of research data, primary and secondary; text is the primary data, whereas context is the secondary one. The data analysis uses content analysis. The result of research shows that the male characters in six stories support feminism ideology. The male characters help women released from violence. Moreover, the male characters also help women to begin to live independently. In the end of the stories, four male characters in four stories of six stories, married the female characters who got released from violence.
