Abstract
ABSTRACT In this paper an algorithm based on modified discrete particle swarm optimization (MDPSO) and modified particle swarm optimization(MPSO) is proposed to solve the network reconfiguration of a distribution system consisting of distributed generators and shunt capacitors. In this work, loss sensitive factors are used to found the optimal locations of DG units and capacitors units, MDPSO is used to obtain the optimal reconfiguration of a distribution network and MPSO is used to determine the optimal size of distributed generators (DGs)and shunt capacitors. The problem here is solved by considering the multiple objectives of minimization of power loss, cost function and deviation of bus voltage. The validation of the proposed algorithm is tested on IEEE-33 and IEEE-69 bus test systems and results are presented and analyzed.
