BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE ADDITIVES ? SIGNIFICANCE AND USE

The paper describes the reasons that led to the development of biologically active additives; specified regulatory documents of their production, expertise and registration are presented. The classification of dietary supplements, their role in optimization of nutrition are given, the purposes of their application and their value in clinical practice are specified. Conclusions: dietary supplements are designed to optimize the diet; dietary supplements are not medicines; dietary supplements are used only as an addition to the primary therapy in a disease; they must be used under medical supervision to prevent adverse consequences.
