AKP’s Discources and Policies againts Women: Neo-Liberalizm, Moderate İslam and Woman

This study is aimed at evaluating the roles and status projected onto the women in the context of the policies and rhetoric of the AKP government and the impact of neo-liberalism and moderate Islam in shaping these roles and status. In this context, it will evaluate the impact of certain ideological discourses and policies on the women’s position in the public sphere, gender equality and women’s political participation, women’s employment, education, and so on. Political actions and rhetoric onto the women are the indicators of both neo-liberal policies and Islamic ideology which function as a test field of AKP both for realizing its ideology and defining the limits of its objectives. Therefore the rhetoric of AKP and its associates are in most cases intended to measure the response of the society before proceeding, and to create a sphere of discussion and an agenda on human rights and rights of women and eventually change and take back some of these gains which would otherwise be uncontestable. This study will evaluate examples of this and attempt to catch the tips of future map drawn by AKP.
