Abstract
The paper critically examines, within the framework of linear stability analysis, the thermosolutal convection in a heterogeneous visco - elastic (Oldroydian) fluid layer in a porous medium. In the present paper, stationery, oscillatory and non - oscillatory convection have been discussed in details. A variational principle is established for the present problem. Some Results are discussed numerically also. Also, principle of exchange of stabilities is not valid in the present problems
