Abstract
Ur biggest challenge in this new century is to take an idea that sounds abstracts- sustainable development- and turn it into reality for all the world’s people . Education for sustainable development is prominent feature of teacher education in the World. Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is widely agreed that teacher education is the most effective means that society possesses for confronting the challenges of the present and future. It will also shape the world of tomorrow. Progress of any country increasingly depends upon the product of the educated mind, research, invention, innovation and adaptation (UNESCO, 1997). Education for sustainable development is about the learning, needed to maintain and improve our quality of education and quality of life of generations to come. The domains of sustainable development are economic, ecological, cultural and political.
