Analyzes of Pre-Service Primary School Teachers’ Explanations of ‘Edge’ Term According to the Mathematical Thinking Development Phases

Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the explanations of primary school pre-service teachers? about ?edge? term according to the mathematical thinking development phases. The study was conducted in 2013-2014 spring semester and the research question is of the study is ?Explain the edge term at three levels and makes a worksheet including three appropriate questions?. The data of the study consists 195 pre-service primary school teachers? answers that they gave in Teaching Mathematics-II course midterm. According to the findings, it is seen that some of the participants could both explain the term at three levels and could make an appropriate worksheet including three problems, but some of the participants could only explain the term in a full way but could not make an appropriate worksheet including three stage problems. Besides some of the participants neither gives straight answer nor could make an appropriate worksheet including questions at three levels.
