Investigation of Exercise Self - Efficacy and Stage of Exercise Behavior Change in University Students

Abstract
The aim of present study was to investigate self-efficacy and stage of exercise behavior change in students who were studying in school of physical education and sport (PES) and students who were studying in other faculty and departments (OFD) in Akdeniz University and to evaluate their sport participation habits. Participants were 360 students who were studying in Akdeniz University. Stage of Exercise Behavior Change Questionnaire and Exercise Self-Efficacy Questionnaire were applied to the participants in classroom environment. Results: Results of statistical analyses revealed that, 27.5% of men and 19.2% of women were in preparation stage of exercise behavior. There were no significant differences between genders (p>.05). According to the result of exercise self-efficacy analyses, there were no significant differences between male and female students (p>.05).
