Abstract
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of resistance training on obestatin hormone. Eighteen recreationally active males volunteered to participate in this study and were randomly assigned to resistance trained (n=9) and control groups (n=9). The resistance training group performed in a eight-week resistance training programme and the control group did not perform any training. Resting plasma levels of obestatin was measured in each subject at t0 (before the training), t1 (end of four week) and t2 (end of training). Repeatedmeasures, two factor ANOVA revealed significant time, group and timexgroup interaction (P<0.05) effects for obestatin. Eight-week resistance training decreased obestatin. These results suggest the presence of alterations in obestatin response to resistance exercise in men.
