Abstract
This paper addressed the problems faced by the rural adolescent girls in village Kotli of district Sri Muktsar Sahib. Data was collected from fifty respondents by using simple random technique. The study revealed that parents deal with their male and female child separately. The rural adolescent girls are totally deprived from their basic rights and are generally limited to the domestic activities. Respondents are not proud to be girls, though in majority of the cases, they reveal that their parents and community members perceive them to be inferior. Preference is given to the sons because they are supposed to be the helping hand for parents. Problems like lack of guidance and facilities, burden of housework, early marriage, discrimination between a boy and a girl, bad environment, no freedom and decision-making power within the family were highlighted as the main problems by the rural adolescent girls.
