Abstract
This article studies different models of school-based management in England. It explains the authority, which is given to school governing bodies and directors and also highlights the role of the staff in school management. This article illustrates different definitions of autonomous school management, which are given by foreign scientists. School-based management is the evidence of decentralization of educational system. Definitions of different aspects of devolution of management authorities and all the reasons, which encouraged educational institutions to follow school-based management and stipulated effectiveness of school activities are very interesting for our teachers.
