Abstract
Faith which occupied a pivotal role in both eastern and western theology has always been used in the sense of other. However ,it may be observed that in the old or the classical scene there is an absence of analytic treatment and critical examination and clarification in the exposition of the concept of faith and one of its important related concept i.e. belief. It was perhaps due to the then dogmatic theological assertion that the faith is something which is sacred and the sacred things need not be subject to any epistemic discussion. Thus, it seems that the negligence of any serious and analytical discussion on the issue led to a host of confusions and misunderstanding regarding the nature of faith and its allied concepts i.e. belief.
