Abstract
We present a preliminary simulation study on the observability of fermentation processes using simple sensors ? a pH meter, a dissolved oxygen (DO) meter, a thermometer and a CO2 meter. Our results show that, at least for the penicillin fermentation process, those measurements alone cannot give the state observability.
