Abstract
In this article mass media and its role as an elevator in educating the society is discussed. Mass media is an indirect teacher who teaches, educates, inculcates, expects, explains and exposes in a very direct yet non participatory way. It has greater and lasting impact on society. This article describes role of media as an elevator in learning but unaware of what to transmit, or broadcast (pour) in the society? (Curriculum is seen from this point of view which itself is highly dependent upon need of the society and technological advancement) It is observed that media can't afford to follow the sciences of teaching i.e. pedagogy, but media has many a times taken the world in their stride and put some remarkable work forward. Here few case studies are examined from media and have tried to find out what sort of role media can play.
Though mass media has its own advantages and limitations, at the end of the article, there are few suggestions for viewers, listeners, readers, consumers and industries to use mass media as an elevator in learning
