Tobacco, being a very succulent crop, is easily attacked by various insect pests, fungi, viruses and bacteria. Apart from these problems, it also suffers from the attack of plant parasitic nematodes, both in the nursery as well as transplanted crops 59.4% and 52.9%, respectively. This article is an attempt to focus on various plant parasitic nematodes associated with the tobacco crop in India, their role in crop damage, biology and management as reported by various workers on this crop. Major findings on Root-knot nematode, Reniform nematode, Stunt nematode, Dagger nematodes, Cyst nematodes and Lesion nematodes have been presented in this article on various aspects of these nematodes, especially on their effective management.
