The article investigates the topic of demon as a specific and typical for Russian poetry transformation of the image of the European culture. Yost van den Vondel, Milton, Byron, Belinsky, Chernyshevsky, Samarin, Pushkin, Lermontov, Glinka, Maykov, Polonsky, Zhukovsky, Homyakov, Fet, Shevyrev are the classics who wrote about "My demon".
