Abstract
The article examines the image of the elder Zosima in Dostoevsky's novel "The Brothers Karamazov". Character fits into the european and the orthodox paradigm of christian culture. The author keeps track of refraction in the image of the hero of the spiritual insights of the catholic and the eastern Church.
