Abstract
The article raises the question of eschatological focus of Dmitry Merezhkovsky's trilogy "Christ and Antichrist", and examines the main aspects of this problem, particularly, the influence of the Book of Revelation of Saint John the Divine on the composition, as well as the metaphorical and symbolic layers of the novels. The article examines the author's interpretation of traditional Biblical symbols. The peculiarity of Merezhkovsky's poetics is revealed through analysis of the concept of "the overman" that comprises both traditional ideas about Antichrist and those of F. Nietzsche and V. S. Soloviev.
