Abstract
Compared with developed nations, food and drug counterfeiting in the developing nations have become serious economic and social problem. A comparative analysis was carried out between the serialization technique as used in the developed nations and the SMS verification technique practiced in developing nations. The objective of this study is to review the anticounterfeit technology solutions to ensure a lasting and effective preventive measure against counterfeiting in the developing nations. The result shows that using serialization technique with data career to trace and track food and drug supply chains proved to be a better solution than the SMS verification technique as used in some developing nations. To ensure maximum authenticity and global success in the counterfeit war, we recommend that the serialization technique with data career should be adopted.
