Abstract
An attempt has been made to study the geological an d engineering properties of the river- borne coarse aggregates of river Pagladia, Baksa district, Assam for evaluating their suitability as road material. The investigation were carried out on both natural and crushed form of the coarse aggregates of the river from upstream to gradually downstream to see their probable property variations. The results of various geological and engineering test performed show that both the type of aggregates are suitable as road material as per specification laid down by Indian Standard Institutions (Bureau of Indian Standard), Indian Roads Congress and Ministry of Surface Transport and various suggestions put forward by different authors in their different publications.
