Abstract
Combination of urea-Sn +2 in SCP solution was examined as a corrosion inhibitor for concrete reinforced steel by potentio dynamic polarization, surface synergist parameter and cyclic voltammetry methods comparing with urea?Zn +2 combination. A synergism parameter (SI) indicated a synergistic effect between urea and Sn +2 was exist. Polarization study revealed that formulation consisting of 300 ppm urea+50 ppm Sn +2 in SCP solution provided inhibition efficiency (I F) of 85.93% while 300 ppm urea +50 ppm Zn +2 provided 82.3% IF , and this combination acts as anodic type inhibitor. Cyclic voltammetry curves showed that the steel samples immersed in this formulation has low tendency to pitting corrosion.
