Abstract
The common problems of raw water intake structures are sediment accumulation and drawls of required raw water at minimum level at source. KUWS&DB is planning for bulk water supply for Local Planning Area for the year 2076 in Mysore. This study focuses on sediment control method planned to reduce the load to the treatment plant. Column studies were conducted to assess sedimentation. Effective sediment control results in reduced wear of pipes and pump impellers thereby increasing the life of pumps and pipes. This reduces the impurity load on preceding processes and cost of primary treatment.
