Abstract
The analysis of National Sample Survey data provides an understanding of food insecurity in terms of region, time and the reasons for food insecurity. It is found that nearly 52 percent of households were food insecure nationally. Spatially, proportional food insecurity was higher in North-Eastern region followed by Southern, Western and Eastern region. However, in absolute terms food insecurity was higher in Central region followed by Eastern, Southern and Western region. The study established that availability of food at household level did not sufficient indicator to ensure the accessibility of food.
