CUMHURİYET DÖNEMİNDE TUNCELİ’DE MEYDANA GELEN DOĞAL AFETLER VE ALINAN TEDBİRLER (1940- 1970)

Tunceli has been the destination of many different nations throughout history. Some of them came to this region for invasion and the others to escape from the invasion. The region is called ‘Dersim’ in the Ottoman Period. In 1935, Republic Era, the government introduced a new law and changed the name of the city as Tunceli. Tunceli has been used as a name which defines people living there as strong as bronze . Tunceli province is a city having harsh conditions to live there. Its climate and geography are very severe. Throughout the history nature reigned to human not vice versa. For this reason, Tunceli people who live under such circumstances have always struggled with nature. They struggled with flood, avalanche, lanslip, rock fall, flooding. Moreover , Tunceli is located on the North Anatolian Fault. County of Pülümür is located on the first-degree of earthquake zone, county of Ovacık and village of Akpazar are located on the second-degree of earthquake zone and the others are on the thirddegree of earthquake zone. Tunceli is among the first 10 provices of Turkey exposed to natural disasters in last 50 years. Since 1958, 924 natural disasters have occured. All of the reasons above affected people’s life quality living in Tunceli in a negative way .
