Abstract
The authors described oogenesis in Nematocarcinus africanus deepwater shrimp, the maturation of the gonads and the scale to determine the stage of maturation of the ovary, the size of oocytes, eggs and fertility of Nematocarcinus. Features of K-strategy with a tendency to r-strategy caused by a characteristic feature of Caridean shrimps i.e. care of the offspring (bearing of relatively larger than that of Penaeoidea species, eggs), and the existing ancestral characteristics, that occur in N. africanus in the cellular (oogenesis ) and gonadal (ovarian maturation) levels of strategy formation.
