Abstract
The work described in this paper has a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) in which mobile nodes can reach the Internet via stationary single gateway node. The gateway works as bridge between MANET and the internet. This paper investigates the role of single gateway placement in mobile Ad hoc networks. Gateway placement is an important part to provide internet to the MANETs. therefore important to? optimize gateway placement and find the best position in the network topology , on the other hand this paper is focused on test and Comparison the performed of two? routing protocols ZRP and ZHLS in terms of Average (end-to-end) delay, Throughput, Normalized routing load and Packet delivery ratio metrics? through her running with the single gateway. Simulation has been done using NS-2 software, producing a computer model of ZRP and DHLS routing protocols. Simulation results suggest that ZHLS routing protocol has better performance in both scenarios. In addition, the results suggest that location of gateway at the center gives better results compared to gateway positioned at the edge.
