Scientific Thinking Skills Included in the First Three Elementary Stage Science Textbooks in Jordan: An Analytical and Evaluative Study

Abstract
This study analyzed the first three elementary stage science textbooks in Jordan, with a view to identify the scientific thinking skills included in these textbooks and determining how these skills were introduced. Total of (887) scientific thinking skills were identified in textbooks, with (295) scientific thinking skills per text and 4 skills per class period. The analysis revealed inappropriate inclusion of some scientific thinking skills in texts. The study recommended taking into account the appropriate methods of including scientific thinking skills in science textbooks in any future development of those textbooks.
