Effective Alternative Assesment in Students' Attitudes toward Islamic Education

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of alternative assesment on students' attitudes toward Islamic education. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the following questions were established: What is the justification for the use of alternative assesment in the Islamic education? What is the proposed model for the alternative assesment Islamic education? What is the impact of alternative assesment on students' attitudes towards Islamic Education? To answer these questions, the researcher has extrapolated the characteristics of a target group in the curriculum of Islamic education, and reviewed the educational literature to identify the justifications for the use of alternative assesment in their evaluation. After that, the data was presented in a suggested alternative assesment, which is a complete file of the student achievement in Islamic Education for Seventh Grade Schools in Jordan, and continued the distribution of activities and tasks throughout the first semester of the academic year 2011/2012. As well as the researcher designed a questionnaire to identify students' attitudes. Then the researcher applied the standard directions. The results showed, the existence of significant differences (0.05 ? ?) in students' attitudes which are attributable to the alternative Assesment model. The researcher recommends the adoption of the draft Assesment model as a modern alternative trend in the evaluation of students, and design alternative models for evaluating that can be applied in different learning environments. In addition to the preparation of manuals for teachers in the mechanism of the alternative assesment application, and develop methods of evaluating teachers and support the trend towards self-evaluation.
