Abstract
The present day power systems combine various modes of generation, transmission and conversion. There is no unique system of monitoring the power frequency, faulted switching condition or the conversion switching phenomena. Major issue is the continuous isolation required for the measuring equipments. This paper describes a simple method to implement a wireless embedded system to continuously monitor the RMS current through the power line. A low data rate ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) based wireless transceiver is used for the wireless communication.
