Abstract
Management information system is computer based system, which makes information available to manager with similar needs. Management information systems focus only on fully structured task or routines for decision .MIS work on online mode with an average processing speed .Generally, it is used by low level management .Decision support system are powerful tool that assist corporate executives , administrators and other senior officials in making decision regarding the problem. DSS support huge volume of data and focuses on structure as well as semi structured data. DSS is associated with low level management and always works on real time mode. DSS is an interactive, flexible, and adaptive computer based information system. DSS supports complex decision making and increases its effectiveness .The decision support system provides good user for decision makers. The objective of this study is to understand the meaning of MIS and DSS and to know the various factors where they differ and helps to the society.
