Abstract

Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) forms a temporary network without aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration. As we know, most wireless ad-hoc networks consist of mobile devices which operate on batteries. Energy consumption is an important issue as most hosts operate on limited battery resources. Thus, network lifetime can be significantly enhanced by incorporating the batteries properties on the routing protocol at each node in the network. Power saving can be optimized by proper selection of energy resource as batteries have a lifetime of few hours of active lifetime. In this paper we try to judge the impact of three residual type battery models for the ad-hoc network and determine that which battery model will consume less power to give long backup for different application purpose. We also put effort to analyze the effect of routing protocol on different battery models.
