Abstract
Phytonymic lexicon can be analyzed from different points of view. Medicinal plant's name reflects not only its properties, but also stages of human cognitive activity, culture specific information, different important motivation features and many other things. This article presents cognitive approach to phytonyms' study, highlights how semantic roles are presented in a poisonous plant's name and how they help to explain and to interpret additional information hidden in phytonyms.
