Abstract
This article deals with the analysis of etymological and linguocultural characteristics of Afro-American English on the example of Their Eyes Were Watching God, a novel by Zora Hurston. Etymology of Afro-American English is studied in terms of semantic contagion and conceptual metaphors, implemented in the novel. Two main spheres of concepts of the novel are analyzed.
