Abstract

The article focuses on the importance of English learning process in the development of soft skill proficiency among students majoring in non-linguistic spheres such as engineers, chemists, pharmacists etc. In this article, it is claimed that students majoring in non-linguistic spheres of life have traditionally focused on mechanic skill acquisition; however, the highly multicultural work practices of professionals (engineers, chemists, pharmacists etc.) now demand more soft-skill proficiency such as cross-cultural experience, communicational skills and foreign language ability. The article provides the practical solution to this problem, arguing that it is worth of talking to students majoring in non-linguistic sphere in their “language”.
