Abstract
The new method of seismic catalogs analysis is presented, which is scaling analysis of series of time intervals between consequent seismic events. The method is applied to the study of microseismicity temporal evolution, preceding the Nothern Baja earthquake (04.04.2010) in its focal region. It is proved that 21 months before the earthquake shock the chaotic character of seismic kinetics changed to statistically self-similar. The appearance of self-similar structure in the series of time intervals can be considered to be a prognostic criterion of a strong earthquake.
