Abstract
The difficulties of hard-to-reach area root canal complex system proper asepsis during root canal therapy require the constant search of more effective methods and measures. According to literature data, these methods include photo-activated root canal asepsis, based on selective damage of bacterial cells affected by photosensitizer and activated by laser radiation. The antimicrobial efficiency comparative evaluation of standard method of dynamic irrigation and root canal photo-activated asepsis while complicated caries was conducted. The data comparison has detected the significant standard method antimicrobial activity which is obviously connected with endodontal canula usage and irrigation effect, promoting microorganism mechanical outwashing from the root canals, which was absent during the photo-activated asepsis. However the advantage of photo-activated asepsis is its potency for pathogenic Streptococcus intermedius, which was absent during the standard treatment method.
