Abstract
An algorithm is proposed for estimating the range of values of the exponent a in the Kuhn?Mark? Houwink equation, which is consistent with experimental data, based on linear programming. The polydispersity of the fractions subject to viscometry is considered. Test calculations for chitosan were carried out. It has been found that this range might be rather wide, which could explain conflicting results reported by different authors for the same polymer.
