Abstract
It is analised the problem of essence and methodological meaning of the category of totality, taken as a basic principle of Hegel´s philosophy. The notion of totality is considered as a way to overcome the abstract one-sidedness of intellect. The implications of this principle for Hegel´s ontology, logic and philosophy of history are explored.
