Abstract
The article analyzes the main stages of the origin and development of creativity in the context of German saxophone jazz art of the early twentieth century. The activity of the main leading performers and musicians is characterized. This is the first attempt to systematize the specific features inherent in the formation of the German aca- demic saxophone school, taking into account the specific features of jazz art in the national musicology.
