Abstract
The paper presents the research material of compressibility indicators of saturated loess bases of foundation plates of residential buildings up to 16 storey. It is set that the growth of the settlement of such foundations during its construction and exploitation is an effect of the consolidation of saturated soils under load. The value of settlement is the outer integral consequence of the volume reducing of pores filled with water and clamped gas. The densification process caused by the ratio of molecular moisture capacity of soils and their gravitational component. In this case, the compressible gas jammed inside the pores additionally contributes to the displacement of the gravity of the pore water. The length of the filter also affects permeability reduction in the soil compaction.
