Abstract
Increasingly family businesses are being viewed as distinctive and economically significant business entities. This article reviews alternative definitions of family businesses and describes potential sources of conflict that
may arise between family members in these enterprises. The authors discuss guidelines to assist in the successful transition of the business from one generation to the next.
