Abstract
In the article, the concept of “information culture” is reviewed and the ways of the formation of information culture of the head of a secondary education institution are defined. The article presents a review of scientific sources in this field. The development of information culture of a leader is determined by the development of the information society. The article focuses on the importance of media competence and media literacy for the head of a secondary school, as well as of his / her ability to work with information materials when taking management decisions, motivation for lifelong learning and putting the knowledge acquired into practice. Attention is drawn to the necessity for the head of a secondary education institution to be aware of the harmful effects of the excessive computer use.
