RHYMING TERMS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE: FORMATION AND FUNCTIONING PECULIARITIES

This work is devoted to the research of the unique linguistic phenomenon of contemporary English ? the English rhyming terms. At the present moment there are practically no works on sociolinguistic analysis of such slang units. The material of the research contains 350 units of rhyming terms received during lexicographic selection from printed and electronic dictionaries of the British and American slang. The research shows the main spheres of functioning of rhyming expressions and reveals peculiarities of rhyming terms formation.
