Abstract
This research work studies one of the main areas in the EFL teaching profession ? promoting students’ confidence in speaking English in EFL classrooms which has been recognized as not only of importance, but also as an area, in which there is still much progress to be made. Extra speaking activities were incorporated into the classroom to increase the students’ performance in terms of pair / group work, and consequently, their confidence. The results showed that an instructional methodology stressing peer collaboration, group work, using various activities as a tool for increasing the ability of the students to speak is likely to result in confidence.
