Abstract
Thymolipoma is a rare benign tumor of the thymus gland containing abundance of adipose tissue interspersed with thymic tissue. Though the association of a thymoma with Myasthenia gravis (MG) is well documented, the association of MG and a thymolipoma is rather unusual. We report a case of a 50 year old gentleman who presented with symptoms suggestive of MG who was found to have a thymolipoma. After confirmation of diagnosis and medical optimization, he was considered for a thymectomy. A computerized tomogram of the chest showed the thymus to be large for age with a high fat content. He underwent an extended thymectomy through a median sternotomy. The excised specimen was diagnostic of thymolipoma. He had a good remission of his myasthenic symptoms with no recurrence of the tumor a year after the surgery.
