The Interrelation of Historical and Artistic Truth in Yu. Mushketyk’s Story “Semen Palii”

Abstract
The specificity of the historical and artistic truth’s proportionality, the historical authenticity of certain historical events are analyzed on the material of the first Yu. Mushketyk’s novel “Semen Palii” in the article. The analysis was done with using of the historical-functional, historical-genetic and typological methods of the literary text’s exploring. The key points to reinforce the actual authenticity of the work during the creative transformation of historical truth to the fiction are identified in the exploration. In addition, the benefit of this study is that the contradictory historical figure of Ivan Mazepa is investigated with respect to time parameters and the ideological position of the author and is based on the historical novel “The last hetman”. This allows to rethink the author's attitude about the period of the end of the XVII and the beginning of the XVIII century’s historical events and figures. The analysis found, that the story “Semen Palii”, although marked a significant influence of historical conditions of the time, but there is the author’s focus on a particular fact, actual events, figure, the subordination of conjecture and fiction (the inner world of the characters, their psychology) to showing of the historical reality.
