Abstract
This work includes a presentation of the state of the art of porous concrete, as a preamble of a research project that develops in the Academic Unit of Civil Engineering at The Technical University of Machala, whose purpose is to evaluate the potential use of porous concrete in the construction of Canton Machala, where the level of surface runoff justified. The review includes the definition of cellular concrete regarding its main components: cement, coarse aggregate, water, additives and sand in little or no to cause the generation of a significant content of interconnected voids that allow the rapid storm drains. It given the reports variables high incidence of the mechanical behavior of porous concrete (strength / permeability relationship) inquiry is warranted, to synthesize the effects of variables in the preparation of the mixture: water / cement ratio, particle size, and morphology added, compaction pressure, curing techniques, among others.
