Abstract
With the purpose of presenting a substitute product with better qualities than natural timber, it was decided to produce plastic wood by combining cellulose and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). In San Miguel, Canton located in Bolivar Province, the primary source of income is agriculture, which generates large quantities of vegetable waste that have not been exposed to a fair process of elimination. A vast amount of plastic waste derived from mass consumer products is also generated, which increases the levels of contamination. Since producing a new product and reducing the levels of pollution in the environment are the main purposes of this work, cellulose, and polyethylene terephthalate have been combined through intensive heating exposure. As a result of this process, a highly weather resistant cellulose plastic plate, which can be used in the construction industry, is generated.
